DIY 3-Ingredient Lavender Body Scrub

Create Your Own Spa At Home

Are you looking for a quick and easy way to relax after a long day? One of my favorite things to do in the evening to help relax my mind and detoxify my body is to whip up this quick DIY body scrub! Salt scrubs have been used for centuries and are still being used at some of the top spas in the world.

This homemade body scrub will help you to get rid of all those icky dead skin cells, while the jojoba oil will keep your skin moist and supple.  The addition of the lavender flowers will give you an added calming aromatherapy treatment. So, it’s the perfect scrub to use after a stressful day!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups kosher salt

1/2 cup organic lavender flowers, crushed in a spice grinder or food processor

1 cup jojoba oil (almond oil, apricot kernel oil, olive oil, or any lightweight oil of choice may be substituted)

DIY Lavender Body Scrub

Blend the lavender flowers in a clean spice grinder or food processor until a soft powder is formed.  This will not only release the aroma of the lavender but will keep the salt scrub from clogging your shower drain.  Mix the powdered lavender flowers with the kosher salt and oil and store in an airtight container, such as a mason jar.  This mixture will stay fresh in your shower without the need for refrigeration for up to two months.

Scrub A Dub Dub

To use, massage the scrub all over your body after cleansing.  Rinse thoroughly and pat skin dry.  Follow with additional moisturizer if necessary. If you really want to take your scrub to the next level, try adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Orange blossom or ylang-ylang essential oils both smell heavenly when mixed with the scent of the lavender flowers! Heads up, this scrubs makes a great gift or party favor as well!
