Ok, we have to talk about something. It’s weird and it’s wonderful and I can’t wait to see what you think about it! I found a new product and it’s not like anything I’ve ever used before. It’s a “washless cleanser.” Wait, what? Washless?
I know. It blew my mind too, at first. But now I’m a total convert. So I had to share it with you today! Let’s talk about Fig + Yarrow’s Cleansing Nectar.
As a Colorado-based blogger, I love supporting local companies. It’s so cool to know that people, your actual neighbors, are coming up with genius products and then creating them right in your very own neighborhood! Right? Ok, enough of me nerding out on shopping locally, let’s get to the cleanser.
Follow The Directions
I’m just going to admit something right here. I haven’t actually been following the instructions for this washless cleanser, entirely. You definitely can. In fact, you probably should, because that’s the wise thing to do. But, I just have to let you in on that, for full disclosure. I’m a rule breaker. What can I say?
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this cleanser, to be honest. I didn’t really pay attention to the fact that it was a “washless” cleanser and was confused at first when I opened the bottle as to how exactly I was supposed to use it.
Once I actually read the directions, I realized that this was quite possibly the most low-maintenance cleanser that I had ever encountered and I was instantly intrigued.
It’s literally just a liquid that you can apply directly onto a cotton pad. And then, swipe the soaked cotton pad all over your face in circular motions. “How can this possibly work?” I wondered.
Well, friends. they just happen to know what they’re doing over there at Fig + Yarrow and it’s safe to say that they’ve got this washless cleanser thing all figured out. I’m pretty sure that the secret lies in the willow bark which contains salicylic acid, a natural exfoliant. Or maybe it’s the botanicals like ginko biloba, licorice root, and green tea. The smell is divine from the lovely blend of essential oils.
Whatever the reason, it works. And, most importantly, I look forward to using it. It gives my skin that squeaky clean feeling but without any tightness or dryness. My skin just feels perfectly, refreshingly, clean.
Now, here comes the part where I actually have to admit how I’ve been using it. Although they recommend this cleanser as the first step in your facial protocol (it is a cleanser, after all.) I’ve been using it more as a toner or exfoliant after washing my face. Sometimes, I just need that clean water feeling that you can’t get from a cleanser that requires no water. You know?
I also tend to wear makeup with a lot of coverage and it’s just easier to wash my face first with a cream cleanser or cleansing balm. But, I LOVE using this as the second step in my cleansing routine. I guess you could say that I’m into double cleansing and this is my second cleanser.
Optimal pH Maintenance
Either way, my skin always feels perfectly balanced right after using Fig + Yarrow’s Cleansing Nectar (which is the best feeling.) And, when I follow up with a serum or facial oil afterward, I can tell that it’s going onto a completely clean face.
I haven’t traveled with it yet, but I can imagine that it would make a wonderful travel companion as well. Have you tried it? Let me know! I would love to hear about your experience with it and if you’re a double cleanser like me or a direction follower like I should be!
