When it comes to buying beauty products, it’s pretty obvious that I have a problem. Like, I need an intervention. Which is why, when I was stuck at home for a week fighting off a nasty virus, I had NO CHOICE but to do some online shopping. It just so happens that Live Botanical was having a great sale the very same week. Coincidence? I think not.
It’s a line that I’ve been wanting to try for a long time, so I took the sale as a sign from the universe and ordered several of their products. So today, I’m going to share with you my Live Botanical’s Skin Balancing AER Line product review and break down just a few of my favorites. Be sure to read until the end, because I’m saving my very favorite product for last!
What Is AER?
According to the Live Botanical website: “Latin for Air, this collection is like a fresh breeze to calm acne and balance skin that tends to have adequate or too much oil. Rather than dry out the pores, formulas protect your delicate acid mantel and prevent long term damage as you age. Minimal scents and simple ingredients are at the heart to clean deeply and naturally.”
Aloe + Green Tea Fresh Complexion Gel Cleanser
Now, everyone knows that I’m a sucker for a good face mask. It’s rare that I find one that I don’t love. Cleansers on the other hand? I’m like a horrible restaurant critic when it comes to cleansers. But for, you know, cleansers, not restaurants. Anyway, I always seem to have a lot of opinions about facial cleansers.
My first thought about the Aloe + Green Tea Gel Cleanser was that is was so refreshing. It smelled fresh, almost like crisp apples. The bottle says “tea-like scent” so I’m not sure why for me, it was apples. But, I’m here to report the real-life experience, so there ya have it. Apples.
But, all smells aside, the way it felt on my skin was what I loved the most about it. So gentle, but also just so…refreshing. Sorry, there really is no other word for it! It left my skin feeling very hydrated as well. You can tell that this cleanser is very nourishing and hydrating.
One word of caution, if you like that squeaky-clean cleanser feeling, you won’t get that with this product without using a washcloth. The cleanser doesn’t rinse completely away without a little help. Which the instructions do tell you, to be fair.
I found out later when I actually followed the directions and used a washcloth, that I did have a much better experience. Bottom line, if your skin is sensitive, I think it’s safe to say that you would love this cleanser.
Green Clay + Maca Root Clearing Facial Mask
So, this was an easy choice for me. Charcoal face mask, you say? Sign me up. The Green Clay and Maca Root Clearing Mask was exactly what I was expecting it to be. It’s a loose powder with clay, activated charcoal, herbs, and essential oils. You just mix a little bit of the powder with water and brush it onto your skin and wait for it to dry.
As with most masks, but especially those of the charcoal variety, I used my makeup eraser to remove the mask. Which, by the way, is one of my cantlivewithout products. If you’ve never removed a face mask with a makeup eraser, go get yourself one RIGHT NOW. But, if you don’t have one, you could use a washcloth instead.
One thing that I will say is that it took quite a bit of rinsing to get the mask completely off my face. Even once I thought my face was completely clean and I was about to put on moisturizer, I realized that I still had some grit leftover that needed to be washed away.
But overall, I did like this mask and I think with continued use it would probably help to clear out these breakouts that I’ve been having lately. One caveat to keep in mind: this mask is active, as in, it could definitely make your skin red for a little bit. So don’t panic if your skin is red when you wash it off, it should subside within a few minutes, depending on the sensitivity of your skin.
Blue Tansy + Babassu Balancing Whipped Oil $38
Now, I definitely saved the best for last. This was a real surprise because it wasn’t even one of the products that I had actually ordered. It was a sample that they had thrown in for free with my order. But, I had to include it, because I am absolutely obsessed with it.
It’s a whipped oil. Which is such a perfect description because it definitely isn’t lotion and it’s more nourishing and lighter weight than a beauty balm. I’m glad they came up with that description so that I didn’t have to. Anyway, getting back to my point, the Blue Tansy + Babassu Balancing Whipped Oil is heaven.
It smells SO GOOD. Fresh, but a tiny bit sweet, and not floral. It totally melts from a solid balm into a liquid that’s a little bit like a serum, but more like a, well…oil. It was the perfect thing right after the charcoal mask, and I immediately wanted to order the full-sized product even though I still have plenty of the sample left.
It’s so good. No matter what your skin type, if you’re struggling with breakouts, but aren’t sure what type of moisturizer to use, you will love this whipped oil!
Live Botanical
So there you have it. Those are a few of my favorites from Live Botanical’s Skin Balancing AER Line! Although all of these products are geared more towards congested skin, I would be so curious to see how their other products perform as well.
I’m pretty sure, based on the ones that I’ve already tried, that they would be awesome. If you try anything, please let me know! I would love to hear how you liked them.
