Have you heard of Aster & Bay? Aster & Bay is a minimalistic clean skincare line using whole plant ingredients. It’s run by Erin and her husband Glen out of an…OLD BISCUIT FACTORY in the UK. How adorable is that?!
I remember the first time that I came across their gleaming red lip tint oil, because I instantly fell in love with their brand aesthetic. So of course, I was so excited to try out several of their products in the spirit of, you know, “work.”
I can’t wait to share my review of the line with you today! Now let’s get to the Aster & Bay product review!
Dandelion Face Grains
First things first, let’s start with the cleanser. I have to admit that I was skeptical when I first tried the dandelion face grains. But I powered through because I love a good alternative style cleanser.
The grains seemed like they were kind of chunky and might not feel that great on my skin when I first dumped them out into my palm. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that, rather than irritating my skin, they almost instantly dissolved into a really soothing cleanser.
An anti-inflammatory mixture of clays, roots, flowers, and grains, this is now one of my favorite cleansers to use while traveling. There’s never a worry of leaks or spills and I actually love using it as a body scrub as well!
Cleansing Oil
The other cleanser that I purchased was the cleansing oil. Although it’s not as lightweight as some of the other cleansing oils that I have tried, it rinses totally away and doesn’t feel heavy at all.
It removed most of my stubborn eye makeup and left my skin feeling clean but hydrated. Packed with grapefruit, lemon, and mandarin essential oils, this cleanser smells super refreshing too, which is always a bonus.
Nutritive Greens Mask
Now, I’ve tried literally hundreds, possibly thousands of masks at this point, and this one did surprise me. It wasn’t like any other mask that I have tried in the past. It has a very thick texture, similar to honey (which makes sense because that’s one of the main ingredients.)
My favorite thing about it was the instant warming sensation that I felt on my skin after I applied it. I had a flashback to being totally pampered at a swanky spa and was instantly more relaxed. I think I got overly excited about the warming sensation and proceeded to put on a little too much of the mask because a few minutes later, I noticed little green droplets dripping onto my chest. Oops!
This is not the best mask to make a mess with because it’s definitely a rich green color. Don’t let that stop you from using it by any means, just be a little more careful not to put too much on at one time!
This nutritive greens mask is more nourishing than many of the masks that I own, with ingredients like chlorophyll, spirulina, matcha, and spinach. It’s a great one to rotate in between more detoxifying masks, such as a charcoal mask. The main ingredient is raw honey which is part of what makes it such a soothing experience, and I do notice afterward that my skin seems happy and very balanced.
Purify Serum
As you may already know, I’m a total sucker when it comes to facial oil. It’s the one product that I tend to use just about every day. This purify serum facial oil is lightweight, sinks instantly into the skin, and smells amazing. It also has a luxurious assortment of essential oils in it like blue tansy, clary sage, geranium, and chamomile.
That being said, this oil does not actually work well on my acne-prone skin. Don’t get me wrong, I love using facial oil even though I’m prone to breakouts. This particular one just doesn’t work very well for me.
I could see it being great to use after a good charcoal mask because it seems gives just the right amount of skin-balancing moisture with ingredients to simultaneously treat congested skin.
Avo Eye Serum
Have you ever used oil rather than a cream for your nighttime eye routine? It might sound a little bit weird, but after using this avo eye serum, I have to admit that I kind of love it. The rollerball feels nice and cool on the eye area and the oil itself feels totally rich a luxurious without feeling too heavy.
I’ve had such a hard time finding an eye cream that has the right balance of being rich and creamy but not heavy, and this one definitely fits the bill for me. With rich avocado oil, carrot seed oil, frankincense, and coffee seed oil, it has just the right amount of heft. I absolutely love the texture and that immediate feeling of hydration. If you’ve never tried it, I would definitely consider adding this one to your list!
The Verdict
As expected, these products did not disappoint and are now some of my favorite products in my collection. I can’t wait to try some of their new products in the future as well. In the meantime, please let me know if you try any of them and which ones are your favorites!
